Juvenile Justice Board for Mandi has been constituted with Praveen Chauhan, ACJM as Chairman, Prem Singh Thakur, General Secretary , Centre for Sustainable Development and Bhuvneshwari Kapoor has been nominated as the Member of the Juvenile Justice Board, Mandi. These boards has been constituted in every district under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2000. The JJB is to conduct trial of criminals below 18 years of age and work for their rehabilitiation so that they can be brought into the social stream instead of being put into the jails. The board will also work for the care and protection of the children. Thakur was instrumental in bringing to light the malpractices at School for Special Children at Sundernagar and has also organised various programmes for the welfare of children. He is a practicing lawyer at Distt. courts and other subordinate courts of Mandi.
